Thank you everyone for making the inaugural league a success. Congratulations to the winning team (members will receive acknowledgement along with the winners of the 2nd league later in the year). This time the numbers are up to 64. We have received feedback and hopefully the new format will accommodate most people. We have tried to allocate singles or doubles as requested (however it is impossible to accommodate everyone). There will be 8 teams of eight. On the designated evening we will play two men’s singles and 3 mixed doubles; i.e. 5 games. You will only have one game

| |
8 Teams of 8 players will play over the next 7 weeks starting 28.01.08 and finishing 16.03.08 (nicely before the Easter period). The teams and schedule are attached. You will note that each member will play singles or doubles against similar ability players. E.g. as before, if you are level 5 you will play the other 7 people at level 5.
|
| | |
| |
Four matches are scheduled for evenings at 7pm. (except on Tuesday, 8pm, due to coaching). The fifth match, men’s singles (level 2) will be arranged early or late by the two participants.
|
| | |
| |
We foresee the matches being played on the designated evening; Doubles are particularly difficult to rearrange and again we would stress if you cannot commit to the fixtures you must tell us now.
|
| | |
| |
Matches can in theory be rescheduled anytime before Sunday 5pm of that week. We would really prefer that people make a great effort to play at the scheduled time for a good team spirit to develop on the evenings of the games. In practice rearranging Doubles is difficult given four people and busy courts.
|
| | |
| |
We would stress the individual responsibility to contact the captain and confirm availability or otherwise; please make life easier for the captain by having the courtesy of contacting him/ her rather than having to be chased for a reply! Most people were great last time but captains did complain that some members made life difficult! Ring your captain the weekend before and confirm that you are ok to play.
|
| | |
| |
If a player is not available he/ she should let the captain know ASAP. The captain in turn will try and get a substitute of the same ability.
|
| | |
| |
Both team captains should confirm the score to Carmel/ John Richmond (02830260892) who will correlate results, tables, on the website. This will also allow the Results to be forwarded to the local papers on a weekly basis. Note this time around 1 point is scored for each individual game and a further 1 point for a team win. (In the event a draw each team scores 0.5 each).
|
| | |
| |
The new courts are playable unless the weather is atrocious and we would encourage games to proceed. In the event of seriously poor weather only games may be re-scheduled to the forthcoming weekend. One captain cannot unilaterally insist on a game being postponed. Following bad weather, if the game cannot be rescheduled/ played by the Sunday of that week the game is declared a draw. The league finishes on Sunday 16.03.08 at 5pm and a winner declared, with no games allowed after that date

Hopefully, with everyone’s enthusiasm and effort the league will run smoothly. In the event of an unforeseen problem, the organisers retain the right to amend, change, and delete teams as they see appropriate to ensure that the league continues successfully. This will be done as fairly as possible but it may not be possible to please everyone! For example, we may have to substitute a player who resigns at an early stage.
